Fire, mud, barbed wire, cargo nets, live music, beer, and warrior helmets – all components of a perfect race. With the intention of creating the most badass day ever, Red Frog Events is bringing Warrior Dash to Louisiana for the first time. On March 5, Warrior Dash participants will endure a 5K race, laced with 13 obstacles, at the Bonnet Carre Spillway. Registration for the race is $60, which includes a fuzzy warrior helmet, a t-shirt, a finisher medal, and of course, pride. Registration closes February 21.
“Whether it’s a superhero, medieval knight, or a Smurf, Warrior Dash gives people the opportunity to express their inner warrior,” said race director Alex Yount in an e-mail to Dig. “It’s the freedom to let loose, dress up in costumes, eat a turkey leg, get muddy, and have a beer that makes you fall in love with Warrior Dash.”
The unique race began in 2009, in the Midwest area, and spread quickly. This year, there are 35 races worldwide with an estimated 500,000 participants. In Louisiana, 6,000 racers are expected, with another 12,000 spectators.
So, lace up your tennis shoes and strap on your helmet: it’s time to unleash your inner warrior.
