WINNER: Aasif Mandvi, racial, religious commentator
Thursday’s Daily Show With Jon Stewart featured a mini-pilot for a pro-Muslim family television program called The Qu’osby Show. In the style of Cosby, Mandvi created a “farcical” family that provoked (I think intentionally) ignorant and hysterical comments from onlookers.
WINNER: Tom Corcoran, epicurean
Tom Corcoran, a pilot from Braintree, MA, made news for flying Playboys, other porno, and cookies to his friends who were participating in the Lakes Region ice-fishing derby, and were out on the water. The Federal Aviation Administration OKed this important business.
LOSER: Spiderman, the Musical
Julie Taymor’s Spiderman musical was finally reviewed by the New York Times. The result: not good. After many accidents related to faulty scenery (and hiring Bono to write the score), you think they’d close the sucker. But it’s the most expensive musical in history.
