Live music from Shelley Segal & SIN (Service Industry) Night! Doors open at 8, you must be 18 to attend
While the summer may signify a break for many, Swine Palace returns to the stage to offer its first ever Summer Festival of productions, concluding with a “fable-ous” and funny regional premiere musical, presented in collaboration with Playmakers of Baton Rouge. The series’ final production will be Michael Mahler and Alan Schmuckler’s “How Can You Run with a Shell on Your Back?” directed by resident ensemble member Jenny Ballard. Performances will be held July 31-Aug. 5 in the Studio Theatre located in the LSU Music & Dramatic Arts Building. Promising an hour of hip, contemporary and fabulous musical fun, the play details the lives of six students stuck in detention after school with an eccentric substitute teacher. They discover the power of imagination when they enact some of Aesop’s famous fables, including “The Tortoise and the Hare” and “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” Running July 31-August 5 at 7:30 pm.
