President Obama endorsed same-sex marriage this week. Is he flip-flopping or evolving?

I think it has been an evolution for him.
He has been back and forth, but I don't want to insult his decision by calling it a “flip-flop.”
It’s a political strategy. He has supported it all along.
It doesn't make sense to hold Romney accountable for flip-flopping and then do the same.
